Job summary

Murray River Council is seeking an entry level Water Services Operator to join the Barham or Moulamein team. You will operate and maintain water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure under supervision, with training provided.

Under supervision, you will monitor control systems, test water quality to Australian Standards, carry out repairs, and support customer service for internal and external customers. This role supports essential services with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Commitment to continuing professional development.
• National Police Check required.
• Trade qualification with plumbing or construction experience.
• Certificate III Water Treatment or equivalent.
• Confined Space Ticket.
• Experience in backflow prevention.
• Experience in Direct Digital Control systems.
• Certificate III Sewerage Treatment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water and sewer plant, reservoirs, and pumping systems.
• Monitor electronic control systems and respond to faults.
• Undertake water quality testing per Australian Standards.
• Undertake repairs and maintenance on mains and infrastructure.
• Provide professional customer service to internal and external customers.
• Undertake water smart meter systems and maintenance.
• Investigate, report, and resolve water meter matters.
• Ensure plant is maintained in good working order, with breakdowns minimised.
