SA Water is seeking a Plant Operator based in Morgan to support the Water Treatment Operations group. You will ensure drinking water quality standards, operate regional plants safely, and manage site administration for visitors and contractors.

About the job

Based at Morgan, this role supports SA Water’s Water Treatment Operations group in the day-to-day operation of our water treatment plants in the Mid Murray region of SA, ensuring that drinking water quality standards are achieved and maintained.

• As a treatment plant operator, you will be responsible for:
• The safe & efficient operation of our regional water treatment plants to ensure compliance with drinking water quality guidelines and SA Water procedures.
• Managing the day-to-day administration of our sites, including the management of site visitors & contractors.
• Undertaking plant maintenance & inspections (repair/service/calibration of plant equipment).
• Closely monitoring & optimising the treatment process to ensure that water quality specifications are both met & maintained.
• Data entry & analysis of process variables & parameters.
• Working closely with internal maintenance teams to ensure plant preventative and reactive works are completed in a timely manner.
  

About Operations and Maintenance

The Operations & Maintenance team oversees the management of our water, wastewater and River Murray activities and conducts operational control activities for a secure water supply. The team is responsible for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, integrating corrective, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance strategies. They aim to meet availability, performance, cost, and risk targets by leveraging technical asset maintenance and reliability expertise. Operations & Maintenance strives to deliver smart and reliable services to customers while enhancing overall operational efficiency

About the Person

Our ideal candidate will have had previous experience working within a close-knit team environment. They will have a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and operational targets whilst working under limited supervision and be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. The position requires advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills. You will have the ability to diagnose process issues and apply optimisation measures.

A trade-level qualification (mechanical or electrical) or similar level of technical qualification is preferred, but not essential. Prior experience in either water or wastewater processes as well as the maintenance and calibration of chemical dosing systems would be beneficial but not essential.

Candidates must possess a strong computer skillset and an above-average level of competency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools. Ideally, you will have experience in the use of networked SCADA control systems.
