Job description

At Bendigo Kangan Institute we change lives through the power of education and skills.

Corrections Education Centre is a key portfolio of BKI, delivering high‑quality education programs to people in custody in partnership with Corrections Victoria and private prison operators. Through strong collaboration with multiple custodial sites, we play a vital role in supporting rehabilitation by building skills, confidence and meaningful pathways for reintegration into the community.

Learning delivery is adapted to the custodial context, with paper‑based delivery and controlled classroom settings. Our educators work directly with individuals, often navigating diverse learning needs. Success in this environment requires professionals who are confident in demonstrating emotional intelligence and resilience, bring sound judgement and a strong commitment to professional conduct.

About the Role

Location: Fulham Correctional Centre
Role Type: Part Time (3 days a week) ongoing, onsite
Required days: Flexible (Friday availability highly preferred)
Remuneration: starting at $81,038.72 inclusive of 12% super pro‑rata (Dependent on skills and experience)

As an Enrolment Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our Corrections Education Centre, helping education thrive. From the first application to induction, enrolment and completion, you’ll own the entire student journey, helping to make every step smooth, efficient, and rewarding.

You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative admin network, working alongside another onsite admin team member and connecting with admin colleagues across other correctional sites. You’ll be well supported by peers and your Program Lead, who will help guide, train and welcome you into the role. This is an office‑based position with minimal prisoner contact, offering a structured and team‑focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate all aspects of student applications and enrolments: processing admissions, inductions, resulting and grading, preparing statements of results, and issuing statements of attainment
  • Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards
  • Provide high‑quality data for reporting purposes
  • Support effective operations and collaborate closely with the Director of Corrections, Program Leads and teaching staff
  • Use sound judgement and problem‑solving to respond to client queries and assist leaders with complex issues, including addressing queries for externals, employers and students
What You’ll Bring
  • A calm, professional approach to problem‑solving, with the ability to work through challenges constructively
  • An eye for detail and accuracy in everything you do
  • Confidence in handling external enquiries over the phone – you’re a clear and professional communicator
  • A genuine desire to make a difference in a correctional centre environment, supporting education that changes lives
  • Proficiency across support functions (e.g.: finance, student records, payroll etc) – supportive on‑the‑job training will be provided to navigate different systems
  • Basic Excel skills to manipulate data and create reports
Benefits
  • Purpose‑driven work that directly contributes to rehabilitation and positive community reintegration outcomes
  • Opportunities for professional development and cultural learning
  • A structured, safety‑first workplace with clear processes that support consistency, professionalism and respectful engagement
  • Fitness Passport Program with exclusive access for you and your family to 230+ locations Australia wide
  • Counselling support (EAP) and Health & Wellbeing initiatives throughout the year

Only applications from candidates with valid working rights will be considered. We are a child‑safe and equal‑opportunity employer and therefore the successful candidate will be required to hold a current Working with Children check clearance.
