Job summary

Bosch Australia is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician with strong mechanical and electrical expertise to join the Automotive Australia Research Centre (AARC) in Anglesea, Victoria. You will work alongside engineers on advanced vehicle development programs, supporting testing, prototype vehicles and day-to-day operations of a specialist automotive engineering facility.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Automotive Technician qualification with significant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems, ideally within development, prototype or testing environment.
  • Proven workshop, maintenance and fault-finding capability.
  • Fabrication and welding experience; skills with lathes, mills and other workshop machinery would be highly regarded.
  • Practical, methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership and use initiative.
  • Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and maintaining high workshop standards.

Responsibilities

  • Providing vehicle technical support for development and application activities.
  • Preparing, maintaining and servicing development vehicles, test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Supporting engineers with vehicle development, testing & validation activities.
  • Preparing and de-instrument vehicles for testing and application programs.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across vehicle systems and components.
  • Removing, replacing and modifying electrical modules, braking systems and other vehicle components.
  • Conducting development testing in consultation with Application Engineers.
  • Installing, modifying and maintaining vehicle instrumentation and test equipment.
  • Fabricating test fixtures and components using workshop machinery and fabrication techniques.
  • Ensuring application test equipment is maintained, fit-for-purpose and available when required.
  • Managing storage of prototype parts, equipment and consumables, including just-in-time inventory.
  • Supporting customer and maintenance staff visits to AARC.
  • Ensuring workshop operations are safe, professional, efficient and compliant.
  • Completing day-to-day workshop administration, equipment and maintenance activities.

Are you an experienced Automotive Technician or Engineering Technician who knows vehicles inside out and takes pride in getting the job done properly?


Bosch is seeking a highly capable, hands-on Engineering Technician to join our team at the Automotive Australia Research Centre (AARC) in Anglesea, Victoria.


This is an opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to work alongside engineers on advanced vehicle development programs, supporting development testing, prototype vehicles, technical investigations and the day-to-day operation of a specialist automotive engineering facility.


You will be someone who is technically strong, practical, efficient and confident working independently — a person who sees a problem, understands it and gets on with solving it.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Providing vehicle technical support for development and application activities.

  • Preparing, maintaining and servicing development vehicles, test equipment and instrumentation.

Desirable Qualifications:

Fitter & Turner or similar qualification and a current forklift licence.



Most importantly, you'll be someone who knows their trade, takes pride in their work and gets things done. You will be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with engineers, technicians and engineering students in a hands-on vehicle development environment.
