Job summary

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council in Port Macquarie, NSW is seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to join the Project Delivery Section of the Community Infrastructure Group. You will provide quality surveying services across planning, design and delivery of infrastructure projects.

The role blends field and technical work, using 12D, AutoCAD, GNSS and total stations to support project teams. A Diploma in Surveying and a current Driver Licence are required, with a salary range around

Qualifications

• Diploma in Surveying or considerable experience in surveying.
• Experience with electronic distance measuring equipment, robotic survey equipment, total stations and GNSS.
• Proficient with 12D and AutoCAD for survey plans.
• Knowledge of survey infrastructure regulations and management.
• Strong written, verbal, numeracy and interpersonal communication skills.
• Holder of a current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake investigation and engineering survey works for Council infrastructure projects.
• Investigate cadastral boundary information and transform survey data to the geodetic network.
• Identify and verify utility locations above and below ground.
• Carry out construction set-out activities and Works as Executed surveys.
• Prepare survey plans and process data using survey and CAD software.
• Provide specialist engineering survey advice to project teams.
• Support project planning within Council's Project Management Framework.
• Coordinate external survey consultants and contractors when needed.
• Maintain survey data collection systems, standards and quality processes.
• Ensure survey equipment is maintained, serviced and calibrated.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate controls.

Job description

At Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, every employee plays a role in helping our community thrive. We are seeking an Engineering Surveyor to join our Project Delivery Section within the Community Infrastructure Group.

In this role, you will provide quality surveying services to support the planning, design and delivery of Council's infrastructure works and projects. Working across a diverse range of civil infrastructure, you will undertake engineering and investigation surveys, construction set out and Works as Executed surveys, while providing specialist surveying advice to project teams and stakeholders.

This role is ideal for an experienced surveyor who enjoys a mix of field and technical work, working across varied infrastructure projects and contributing specialist expertise to projects that deliver lasting benefits for our community.

To be successful in this position you will have:

• ADiploma in Surveying or a related discipline, or considerable relevant experience within the surveying industry
• Demonstrated experience using survey equipment including electronic distance measuring equipment, robotic survey equipment, total stations and GNSS
• Experience using survey and CAD software such as 12D and AutoCAD to prepare survey plans
• Sound knowledge of survey infrastructure and the regulations and processes associated with its protection, preservation and management
• Strong written, verbal, numeracy and interpersonal communication skills
• A current Class C Driver Licence

On a typical day you will:

• Undertake investigation and engineering survey works for Council infrastructure projects
• Investigate cadastral boundary information and transform survey information to the appropriate geodetic network
• Investigate and verify above and below-ground utility locations
• Undertake construction set-out activities and Works as Executed surveys
• Prepare survey plans and process survey data using specialist survey and CAD software
• Provide specialist engineering survey advice and support to Council project teams
• Support project planning activities in accordance with Council's Project Management Framework
• Coordinate external survey consultants and contractors when specialist or additional survey services are required
• Maintain survey data collection systems, standards and quality processes
• Ensure survey equipment is appropriately maintained, serviced and calibrated
• Undertake risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are in place for survey activities

Employment Type:

Full Time, Permanent, 35 hours per week

Starting salary of $80,812.39 to $90,454.25 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus 12% Super and Tool of Trade vehicle.
