Job summary

Nutrien Ag Solutions - Australia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead maintenance and project work at our Laverton plant in Melbourne. You will drive CAPEX initiatives, optimise equipment reliability and align engineering with site operations.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, 5+ years in a similar role in AU/NZ, SAP experience and strong supervision and communication skills. Forklift and safety credentials are advantageous for this role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in a mechanical engineering role in Australia or NZ.
• Proven experience supervising a team.
• SAP experience.
• Advanced MS Word and Excel skills.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: chemical manufacturing, fabrication and hot works, inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX and project initiatives, including installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis and troubleshoot technical issues with quick, safe responses.
• Support maintenance with regular inspections, preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Champion continuous improvement across equipment, production efficiency, OEE and reliability.
• Manage engineering suppliers and contractors for project activities.
• Collaborate with Site Management to align engineering with operations and audits.
• Own the maintenance management system (SAP) and keep documents, SOPs, manuals up to date.
• Ensure all engineering activities meet OH&S and hazardous-substances requirements.
