Job summary

Nutrien Laverton manufacturing facility in Laverton North, VIC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead engineering and project management across CAPEX initiatives, maintenance and reliability improvements.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager – East Coast, you will own SAP maintenance system, supervise a team, ensure OH&S compliance, and work with site management to align engineering with production goals.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in a mechanical engineering role in Australia or NZ.
• Proven experience supervising a team.
• SAP experience and advanced MS Word/Excel skills.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail; safety-first ethos.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX and project initiatives, including installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis and troubleshoot technical issues; respond to equipment failures safely.
• Support maintenance with regular inspections, preventive and reactive maintenance; reduce downtime.
• Champion continuous improvement across plant equipment, production efficiency, OEE, downtime and reliability.
• Manage engineering suppliers and contractors for project activities.
• Collaborate with Site Management to align engineering with operational goals and assist with audits.
• Own SAP maintenance system and maintain engineering documents, SOPs, manuals, and training records.
