Job summary

Nutrien Laverton is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the site’s engineering and project management. You will drive CAPEX initiatives, ensure safe plant operation, and manage maintenance activities to keep the Laverton facility running reliably.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager – East Coast, you will own the SAP maintenance system, coordinate with suppliers, and mentor a maintenance team. A degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• 5+ years in a mechanical engineering role in AU/NZ.
• Experience supervising a team.
• SAP experience and advanced MS Word/Excel skills.
• Strong problem‑solving and safety‑first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX and project initiatives, including installation/commissioning of new equipment.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis and troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Support maintenance with regular inspections and preventive/reactive maintenance.
• Champions continuous improvement across equipment, production efficiency, OEE, downtime and reliability.
• Manage engineering suppliers and contractors for project activities.
• Collaborate with Site Management to align engineering with operational goals; assist with audits.
• Own the maintenance management system (SAP) and keep docs/SOPs/training records up to date.
• Ensure all engineering activities meet OH&S and hazardous substances requirements.
