Job summary

pay.com.au, Melbourne-based US Engineering Squad, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Melbourne-based team building PayRewards for US customers. You will oversee throughput, prioritisation, sprint discipline and the responsible integration of AI into workflows while growing engineers into technical leads.

You’ll work in a hybrid Melbourne setting with a focus on scaling a fintech platform and collaborating with the US CEO and broader teams.

Qualifications

• Shipped software and can discuss design trade-offs and quality with a tech lead.
• Led teams to deliver value, balancing people, process and product outcomes.
• Hands-on with AI tooling to improve team workflow and efficiency.
• Managed engineers and stakeholders across time zones, aligning on priorities.
• Familiar with fintech/payments domain and regulated environments.
• Aware of delivery metrics (DORA) and how to drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Throughput and predictability: keep the squad shipping at business pace.
• Prioritisation: decide what features/experiments earn a slot in the roadmap.
• Operating discipline: manage sprint planning, standups and retros.
• AI in the workflow: identify where AI adds real cost savings and integrate it.
• People and capability: grow engineers into leads who can run initiatives.
• Manage support load and balance roadmap time with platform health.
