Bright & Duggan Group in Sydney is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our software engineering capability. You will build and develop a high-performing team, setting technical direction across delivery, cloud platforms, reliability, security and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Solid experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or related disciplines.
Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
Strong background in modern software architecture and engineering practices.
Experience delivering scalable, secure and reliable software platforms.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms and modern software delivery approaches.
Experience with automation, CI/CD and engineering productivity improvements.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and develop engineers.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering leadership: build, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team.

Establish engineering standards, ways of working and best practices.
Promote technical excellence through mentoring, reviews and knowledge sharing.
Lead software engineering & delivery: oversee delivery of business-critical software solutions and digital products.
Support architecture and solution-design activities; drive quality, testing and automation.
Improve delivery processes and engineering effectiveness; partner with Product and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
Lead cloud, platform & reliability practices across cloud-native environments; improve observability, deployment and incident management.
Support security & operational excellence: vulnerability management, governance and risk mitigation; ensure quality and security embedded in delivery.
