Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical models for buildings, infrastructure and other projects.
• Undertake landslip risk assessment for residential to large-scale projects.
• Perform slope stability analyses using SLOPE/W.
• Advise clients and internal teams on slope stability and remediation measures.
• Plan and coordinate field investigations for diverse projects.
• Coordinate site inspection, testing and monitoring services.
• Assess stability of deep excavations and advise on stabilisation measures.
• Prepare proposals and write site investigation and construction phase reports.
• Support business development and mentoring within Douglas Partners.

Job Description

West Ryde, NSW What the role is Our Sydney office is seeking an Engineering Geologist with at least 5 years; experience to join the team.

In this role you will complement our consulting group so that projects continue to run efficiently and effectively, thus ultimately maintaining clients’ satisfaction while developing your engineering geology consulting skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a practically minded engineering geologist who enjoys a mixture of outdoor work, analysis and report writing. The ideal candidate will be keen to liaise with existing clients, understand their requirements and work with them to deliver positive outcomes in a timely manner.

Your role will include (but not limited to): Your responsibilities may include:

• Creation of geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical models for a range of building, infrastructure and other projects;
• Undertake landslip risk assessment for projects ranging from residential developments to large scale infrastructure projects;
• Undertake slope stability analyses for landslip and bulk excavation projects using software such as SLOPE/W;
• Clearly and confidently advise clients and in-house engineering/design teams on slope stability aspects, stabilisation measures and remediation of slopes and excavations;
• Planning and coordinating field investigations for a wide variety of medium to large-scale residential / commercial / industrial / infrastructure projects;
• Coordination and oversight of site inspection / testing / monitoring services for construction sites for a range of deep excavation, earthworks, road and rail projects;
• Undertake inspections and provide advice on the stability of deep excavations (e.g. for basements) and advise on stabilisation measures such as rock bolting and anchoring;
• Prepare proposals and write reports for site investigation, assessments and construction phase services;
• Business development, client development and management;
• Mentoring of others in the Douglas Partners team.

About You

• Ideally have at least five years' professional experience in the field undertaking geotechnical investigations;
• Achieved a Bachelor of Engineer (BE) or Bachelor Geology degree;
• Ability to work in a team-based environment;
• Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and contractors;
• Proven problem solving and pattern recognition skills;
• High level of computer and writing skills;
• High commitment to safety and professional integrity; and
• Hold a current Australian driver’s licence (Class C).
