Job summary

AEMO is Australia’s independent energy system and market operator and system planner. It seeks to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable energy today while enabling the energy transition for all Australians.

The role supports the Congestion and Grid Engineering team with power system modelling, EMS updates, and SCADA testing in the NEM and WEM environments. We are looking for someone with Electrical Engineering qualifications and experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, who can work

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus.
  • Energy sector experience or experience in a similar complex infrastructure environment.
  • Experience with electrical power system modelling and analysis tools (such as SCADA/EMS).
  • Understanding of the power system with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Regular and timely updates to AEMO’s EMS to match with power system changes due to new generators, loads, batteries and network augmentation as well as improvement and fixes as reported by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the commissioning / registration of generating plant including SCADA list approval and point-to-point testing.

About The Role

AEMO’s Congestion and Grid Engineering team provides power system modelling, analysis and tools development to support AEMO’s control room to operate the grids and markets securely and reliably.

You will support the senior members of the team, the Engineering Tech Lead and the Manager Congestion & Grid Engineering in a number of tasks including modelling generators and network in AEMO’s Energy Management System (EMS) in both the NEM and WEM, SCADA and AGC testing.
