Job summary

Evolution Mining is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer for Ernest Henry Operations. You will manage geotechnical risk and support underground stability, working with operational teams to optimise mine outcomes.

Based at Ernest Henry, you’ll conduct inspections, seismic interpretation and ground support recommendations, with strong exposure to mine design reviews and planning. FIFO from major hubs on an 8/6 roster is available.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering; or Geological Engineering.
• 3–8 years’ experience in mining geomechanics or related consulting.
• Experience in underground or open pit mining; knowledge of rock mechanics and ground support systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor geotechnical risks across underground operations.
• Conduct underground inspections and geotechnical assessments.
• Collect, analyse and interpret geotechnical/seismic data.
• Review excavation designs and ground support requirements.
• Support mine planning and sequencing through geotechnical analysis.
• Contribute to audits, compliance and continuous improvement.

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing geotechnical risk, supporting underground stability and working closely with operational and technical teams to optimise mining outcomes. From underground inspections and geotechnical monitoring through to mine design reviews, seismic interpretation and ground support recommendations, you’ll enjoy a varied role with strong operational exposure and technical challenge.

Based at our Ernest Henry Operations and reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll:

• Monitor and manage geotechnical risks across underground operations
• Conduct underground inspections and geotechnical assessments
• Collect, analyse and interpret geotechnical and seismic data
• Review excavation designs and ground support requirements
• Support mine planning and sequencing through geotechnical analysis
• Contribute to audits, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you bring to us:

• You’re a motivated geotechnical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while working closely with operational teams to deliver safe and sustainable mining outcomes.
• A tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering. Otherwise, a degree in Geological Engineering
• 3-8 years’ experience in mining geomechanics, underground mining or consulting
• Experience in underground or open pit mining
• Knowledge of rock mechanics, ground support systems and geotechnical monitoring
• Experience with geotechnical analysis software and mine planning tools
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
