Job summary

Evolution Mining's Ernest Henry Operations in Queensland invites a hands-on Geologist to join a brand-new underground stoping project. You’ll be embedded in an autonomous crew, collaborate with the mining contractor and help shape early stoping processes, geology systems and data collection from day one.

Based at Ernest Henry, you’ll own grade control, mapping and sampling tasks, support QAQC and drilling programs, and contribute to geological modelling updates.

Qualifications

• Experience as an underground mine geologist, ideally with exposure to stoping operations.
• Strong capability in grade control, geological mapping and sampling practices.
• Experience working with QAQC, geological data validation and interpretation.
• Exposure to geological modelling tools such as Leapfrog and Deswik (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a crew environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide geological support to underground stoping operations, including mapping and interpretation.
• Deliver grade control and sampling activities to support safe and efficient ore extraction.
• Coordinate and supervise grade control diamond drilling programs.
• Work closely with mining contractors and site stakeholders to optimise production outcomes.
• Conduct underground geological mapping, inspections and data collection.
• Complete stope notes, reconciliation and reporting.
• Support the development and implementation of geological systems, processes and procedures.
• Contribute to geological modelling updates and interpretation based on ongoing operations.

What’sthe opportunity?

Ernest Henry Operations is launching a new underground stoping project, a brand-new mining area that will play a key role in the future of the operation. This is a rare opportunity to join a project from the very beginning, helping to shape how geology is executed within a newly established stoping environment.

As a Geologist, you’ll be embedded within an autonomous crew structure, working closely with the mining contractor and playing a hands-on role in establishing processes, supporting production geology, and contributing to early stope design and execution. This role offers a high level of ownership, strong operational exposure, and the ability to directly influence how the mine develops.

Based at our Ernest Henry Operations and reporting to the Geology Superintendent you’ll:

• Provide geological support to underground stoping operations, including mapping and interpretation
• Deliver grade control and sampling activities to support safe and efficient ore extraction
• Coordinate and supervise grade control diamond drilling programs
• Work closely with mining contractors and site stakeholders to optimise production outcomes
• Conduct underground geological mapping, inspections and data collection

Does this sound like you?

You’re a confident underground mine geologist who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment and is comfortable working independently within a crew-based structure. Ideally, you’ll also have:

• A tertiary qualification in Geology or Geosciences
• Experience as an underground mine geologist, ideally with exposure to stoping operations
• Strong capability in grade control, geological mapping and sampling practices
• Experience working with QAQC, geological data validation and interpretation
• Exposure to geological modelling tools such as Leapfrog and Deswik (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in a crew environment.
