Job summary

RSL Queensland in Mackay is seeking an Engagement Officer to strengthen relationships between District Offices, Sub Branches and veteran communities. You will help volunteer-led organisations access guidance, resources and support to operate effectively and deliver positive outcomes for veterans and their families.

You'll work with Defence communities, travel across the Central Queensland region, and partner with local branches to foster collaboration, navigate challenges and drive impactful

Qualifications

• ADF service or familiarity with the veteran community.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working independently and managing competing priorities.
• Ability to support volunteers and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
• Confidence with reports, budgets and Microsoft Office programs.
• Current Driver Licence and Working with Children Card (or ability to obtain one).
• Willingness to travel and occasionally work outside standard business hours.

The role:

RSL Queensland works alongside more than 230 Sub Branches across the state, supporting the volunteers who serve their local veteran communities.

As an Engagement Officer, you'll strengthen relationships between District Offices and Sub Branches, helping volunteer-led organisations access the guidance, resources and support they need to operate effectively and deliver positive outcomes for veterans and their families.

This is a full-time permanent role based out of our RSL Central Queensland District Office in Mackay. Regular travel throughout the region is required, and occasional after-hours flexibility is essential.

About you:

You're a confident relationship-builder who can influence without direct authority, navigate competing priorities and build credibility with a diverse range of stakeholders. You might come from stakeholder engagement, community development, local government, membership organisations, veterans' services or a similar relationship-driven environment.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

• ADF service, experience working with Defence personnel, or a strong understanding of the veteran community
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience working independently and managing competing priorities
• The ability to support volunteers and navigate complex stakeholder environments
• Confidence working with reports, budgets and Microsoft Office programs
