Job summary

AGL is seeking a Commercial Analyst – Asset Portfolio Planning to guide the strategic direction of hydro, renewable and thermal generation assets in Australia. You will help develop an integrated portfolio strategy underpinning long‑term planning and investment decisions, ensuring robust financial analysis aligns with broader priorities.

You will sit in the Asset Portfolio Planning team, partnering with trading, finance and operations to deliver insights for senior leadership and the board.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related discipline.
• High proficiency in financial modelling and scenario analysis.
• Strong Excel and VBA; Python for modelling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Analyse portfolio-level strategies to support value, capital allocation and long-term planning.
• Build and maintain financial and valuation models (DCF, NPV, IRR) using Excel, VBA and Python.
• Develop asset-level models that capture spend forecasts, performance and technical parameters.
• Prepare clear, engaging presentations and papers for executive and board audiences.
• Collaborate with teams across trading, finance, operations and government relations.
• Manage timelines, milestones and deliverables across multiple projects.
• Support consistent spend evaluation and align project outcomes with corporate goals.
