Job summary

Macquarie University in North Ryde is seeking a Payroll Shared Services Officer to manage end-to-end payroll administration across the University Group. The role is a 12-month, full-time fixed term with a competitive salary and 17% superannuation.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Payroll Services, you will handle salary changes, deductions, and leave entitlements, respond to Tier 1 payroll enquiries, and ensure compliance with awards and legislation while supporting process improvements.

Qualifications

• Completion of a relevant qualification with subsequent experience in payroll or HR administration.
• Hands-on experience delivering high-volume end-to-end payroll processing in a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of enterprise agreements, modern awards and relevant employment legislation.
• Ability to resolve Tier 1 payroll enquiries with clear, timely communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end payroll administration across the Macquarie University Group, including salary, allowances, deductions, and salary packaging.
• Respond to Tier 1 payroll enquiries within agreed timeframes with high-quality customer service.
• Process transactions in line with enterprise agreements, modern awards and legislation.
• Monitor and validate data quality within HR systems and resolve data quality errors.
• Maintain accurate filing and storage of employment documentation for compliance.
• Prepare standard and ad hoc payroll reports for stakeholders.
• Assist with process improvements and testing system upgrades.
