Job summary

Macquarie University seeks a Payroll Governance Specialist to lead payroll governance, compliance and controls across HR Shared Services. You will guide audit activity, provide expert advice and drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, partnering with HR, Finance, IT and external auditors.

You will ensure enterprise agreements, modern awards, legislation and policies are followed, with experience in Dayforce aPay, Workday and Kronos.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, human resources or a related discipline.
• Experience in complex, high-volume payroll operations with varied awards and agreements.
• Experience establishing, managing and improving payroll governance, controls, risk and assurance frameworks.
• Knowledge of employment legislation, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and STP requirements.
• Experience wage remediation activities and complex payroll calculations with high accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving, data interpretation and process improvement skills.
• Experience using HR/payroll systems Dayforce aPay and Workday with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Accountability for payroll processes governance, integrity, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and ensure audit recommendations are completed.
• Prepare regular payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee wage remediation activities, data analysis and reconciliation calculations.
• Ensure systems configurations and access are maintained per payroll controls.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT and external auditors to strengthen payroll controls.
