Wellways Australia is seeking a Peer Family Support Worker in Mackay to combine lived experience with professional support for carers and families on their recovery journey after a suicide attempt.

You will link participants with community services, provide psychoeducational guidance, and lead peer groups while advocating for those in crisis. A commitment to inclusive practice and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of supporting a loved one with mental health challenges
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds
• Satisfactory Police Records Check
• Blue Card – Working with Children Check
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Right to Work within Australia

Responsibilities

• Link participants with community support services and resources
• Provide psychoeducational tools and guidance to support recovery
