Job summary

Wesley Mission is expanding its GambleAware services across Sydney and regional NSW, delivering person-centred financial counselling to individuals experiencing gambling-related harm. The role supports clients through assessment, education, and empowerment, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

We are seeking a qualified financial counsellor with experience in gambling-related issues, strong communication skills, and a commitment to not-for-profit work.

Qualifications

• Financial Counselling Diploma required; Problem Gambling Skill Set or willingness to complete.
• Minimum 1 year industry experience as a financial counsellor.
• Experience with clients facing gambling-related issues.
• Accredited or Associate member of the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW.
• Current NSW driver's licence and Working with Children’s Check.
• Experience delivering community education programs and trauma-informed counselling.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial counselling, assessment, and education to clients.
• Offer information, explore options, negotiate, advocate and mediate as needed.
• Deliver cashflow management support and personal financial management coaching.
• Refer clients and deliver financial education programs within a wrap-around service.
