Gallagher Bassett is seeking an experienced Employment Practices Specialist to support our General Liability and Long Tail teams within General Insurance. You will provide expert technical advice on complex employment-related claims, ensuring accuracy, compliance and early resolution.

• Identify trends and emerging risks within the portfolio and provide actionable insights.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance claims processes, quality and efficiency.

Overview

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a highly experienced Employment Practices Specialist to support our General Liability and Long Tail teams within the General Insurance division. In this specialist role, you will provide expert technical advice across complex employment-related claims, ensuring matters are managed with accuracy, compliance and a strong focus on early and appropriate resolution.

You will play a critical role in advising on liability, coverage and strategy across a range of employment disputes, including unfair dismissal, discrimination and workplace-related matters. This role will also focus on enhancing organisational capability in managing employment claims in line with evolving Industrial Relations frameworks.

How you'll make an impact

On a day to day basis, you will:

• Act as the primary technical referral point for complex or sensitive employment-related claims.
• Provide expert guidance on coverage, liability assessment and resolution strategies.
• Manage litigious and non-litigious matters including unfair dismissal, discrimination and workplace disputes.
• Advise stakeholders on employment legislation, privacy obligations and compliance requirements.

About you

You are an experienced employment law or claims professional with strong technical capability and a passion for delivering fair, compliant and balanced outcomes. You thrive in complex environments and bring strong stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking and a solutions-focused approach.

We’re looking for:

• Strong employment law experience, ideally at Associate or Senior Associate level.
• Proven experience managing complex employment claims including IR matters.
• Sound knowledge of employment legislation, Industrial Relations frameworks and claims processes.
• Demonstrated ability to assess liability, coverage and develop defensible strategies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering training and building capability across teams.
• Strong analytical, drafting and reporting skills.
• High level of resilience, empathy and professionalism.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
