Challenge Employment & Training in Ipswich is recruiting for a part-time lead role to support people facing barriers to employment. You will work within a person-centred model, linking clients to services, helping transitions and providing practical job search assistance.
The role focuses on arranging pathways to employment or training, including direct work, Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs, and preparation activities, with regular reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Join the Ipswich Pathways to Employment Program and play a key role in supporting people experiencing barriers to employment to build confidence, strengthen connections and access meaningful pathways into training, education and work.
Working within a coordinated, person-centred model, you’ll connect participants with the right services and opportunities, support transitions and provide practical employment assistance. Your work will help people achieve their goals, increase workforce participation and build stronger connections within the community.
Part-time position pro-rata: 5 hours a day on Tuesday , Wednesday & Thursday
Fixed term contract till: 30th June 2027
Case manage participants from the referral stage through to successful outcome, including a three-month post program support phase.
Discuss, identify and facilitate the best employment and/or training pathway for clients which could include direct employment, training, Skilling Queenslanders for Work programs, employment preparation etc.
Support participants to obtain personal identification and other methods to set the individual on a positive pathway to employment and/or training.
Actively engage with relevant support agencies to ensure clients can be supported by the widest range of employment preparation supports as possible, including Workforce Australia providers.
Liaise closely with referring agencies to ensure a smooth transition for clients occurs through the referral stage.
Representation at various stakeholder meetings and events on behalf of Challenge Employment & Training.
Regular reporting to the Training & Development Coordinator on participant referrals, support services and outcomes.
Knowledge, and/or experience in supporting people experiencing diverse and specific barriers.
Understanding success factors in transitions to employment for this cohort.
Knowledge of the various employment and/or training supports, agencies, services etc. available in the Ipswich area.
Individual case management skills.
Ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate support services quickly to support clients.
Negotiation skills to facilitate funding contributions from Workforce Australia providers and facilitate appropriate training and employment outcomes for clients.
Personable and patient; able to consider the individuals own lived experience
Resourceful; solutions focused with ability to work with clients creatively
Good oral and written communication skills
Competent in digital literacy; able to use Microsoft office to perform basic data analysis
Good organisational skills
