Qualifications

• Demonstrated Employee Relations or HR advisory experience within a complex operational environment.
• Proven experience conducting workplace investigations from allegations and interviews through to findings and reports.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and procedural fairness.
• Experience advising leaders on performance, disciplinary matters, grievances and workplace conflict.
• Excellent written capability, including investigation reports and formal ER correspondence.
• Strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple sensitive matters to deadline.
• A confident, professional communication style with the ability to build credibility with operational leaders.

Responsibilities

• Manage employee relations cases from initial assessment through to resolution, including workplace investigations, performance, conduct, grievances, workplace conflict and disciplinary matters.
• Balance multiple cases with different priorities, risks and stakeholders while ensuring progress.
• Conduct interviews, assess evidence, prepare investigation findings and formal correspondence.
• Translate legislation, Modern Awards and policy into practical advice for a busy operational environment, escalating when necessary.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS ADVISOR - Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is a large and diverse hospitality operation, bringing together hotels, restaurants, tourism experiences and operational teams within one unique island environment. Behind these experiences is a substantial workforce and a People team supporting leaders through the complex, fast-moving employee matters that come with operating a major tourism destination.

We're looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor who can confidently navigate this environment. This is a hands-on professional role where you'll manage multiple workplace investigations and employee relations matters concurrently, providing practical, timely advice to leaders while balancing legislation, Modern Awards, company policy, procedural fairness and the realities of a fast-paced hospitality operation.

What you'll be doing

You'll manage employee relations cases from initial assessment through to resolution, including workplace investigations, performance, conduct, grievances, workplace conflict and disciplinary matters. At any one time, you'll be balancing multiple cases with different priorities, risks and stakeholders - requiring sound judgement, strong organisation and the ability to keep matters progressing.

You'll conduct interviews, assess evidence, prepare investigation findings and formal correspondence, and support managers through sensitive conversations and formal processes. Just as importantly, you'll translate legislation, Modern Awards and policy into practical advice that works within a busy operational environment, knowing when a matter requires escalation and when a pragmatic solution can move things forward.
