BHP Group is seeking two Emergency Services Officers to join Olympic Dam Emergency Services in South Australia. The roles involve responding to underground and surface emergencies, delivering training, and maintaining readiness on a 7 days on / 7 days off / 7 nights on / 7 days off roster.

• Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent).
• Certificate IV in Health Care (or equivalent or higher qualification).
• AHPRA registration as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse is highly regarded.
• Current HR Driver's Licence and Current C Class Driver's Licence are required/beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a wide range of emergency incidents including underground and surface rescue, fire, HAZMAT and medical emergencies.
• Deliver and participate in practical training exercises, emergency simulations and capability development activities for onsite emergency response volunteers.
• Maintain emergency response readiness through equipment inspections, testing, maintenance and competency-based training.
• Support workplace safety through inspections, field observations and verification of critical controls.
• Contribute to workforce health and safety initiatives that strengthen emergency preparedness and operational resilience.
• Continue building your technical capability through ongoing training, development and professional qualification pathways.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

The Challenge Ahead

We are seeking two motivated and experienced Emergency Services Officers to join the Olympic Dam Emergency Services team.

Available opportunities include:

• 1 x Full Time Permanent position
• 1 x Fixed Term position from December 2026 to December 2027

This role is ideal for an emergency response professional looking to further develop their skills within a highly respected emergency services team. Olympic Dam Emergency Services responds to a broad range of incidents across both surface and underground operations, including fire, rescue, hazardous materials incidents and medical emergencies.

As an Emergency Services Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce while supporting one of Australia's largest and most complex mining operations. Working alongside highly skilled colleagues, you will contribute to emergency preparedness, response capability, workforce safety and continuous improvement initiatives across site.

You will also have the opportunity to support a significant operational milestone, contributing to emergency readiness and workforce health and safety activities associated with the site's planned major shutdown in June 2027.

What You'll Bring to the Role

You are an adaptable and safety-focused emergency response professional who thrives in dynamic environments and remains calm under pressure. You are committed to continuous learning, operational excellence and supporting positive safety outcomes for others.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent)
• Certificate IV in Health Care (or equivalent or higher qualification)
• Current HR Driver's Licence
• Current C Class Driver's Licence

The following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

• AHPRA Registration as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse
• Experience working within an underground mining environment
• Drug and Alcohol Testing qualifications
• Experience in emergency services, firefighting, rescue, industrial healthcare or emergency response environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams

Work Location
