Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced Emergency Services Officer for Prominent Hill on a 12-month fixed term contract. Based on site with a FIFO roster from Adelaide or Port Augusta, you will respond to fire, rescue, HAZMAT and medical incidents and support emergency readiness across the operation.

You will work with a capable team, maintain equipment, participate in drills, and contribute to safety improvements while advancing your emergency response skills within mining.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue or equivalent.
• Certificate IV in Health Care or equivalent or higher.
• Current HR Driver’s Licence.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships.
• A proactive approach to safety, teamwork and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Respond to surface and underground fire, rescue, HAZMAT and medical emergencies.
• Maintain emergency response readiness through inspection, testing and maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in emergency response training and capability-building activities.
• Conduct work area inspections to support risk management and verify critical controls.
• Build positive relationships with operational teams to promote safety culture.
• Maintain and enhance emergency response capability through ongoing training.
