Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd is seeking an Embedded Software Manager to set the technical direction for bare-metal firmware used in core products. You will lead two engineering teams of around 10 engineers, define standards, processes and architecture, and maintain a hands-on role in low-power firmware development with microcontrollers.

The role emphasizes technical authority, mentoring, and close collaboration with hardware and product teams.

Qualifications

Degree in computer, electrical or electronic engineering, software engineering, computer science or related discipline.
Extensive hands-on experience developing bare metal firmware in C for low power, resource constrained microcontrollers.
Experience leading embedded software engineers and setting technical direction.
Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

Own embedded software practice across two engineering teams, defining standards, design principles and development processes.
Review firmware design and implementation for low power MCUs and guide decisions on drivers, sensors and resource use.
Make key technical decisions on firmware architecture and implementation and explain reasoning clearly.
Establish consistent use of source control, code review and issue tracking so work is visible and maintainable.
Lead, mentor and develop engineers across both teams, growing capability and culture.
Represent embedded software in discussions with hardware, systems and product colleagues.
