Job summary

Codematix is partnering with a well-established Australian technology company to appoint a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer in Sydney. You will own hands-on development across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through architecture, development, testing, manufacturing and ongoing support.

You will work on modern embedded systems and IoT-connected devices, shaping next-generation products and influencing design decisions within a collaborative engineering team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' commercial experience developing embedded firmware.
• Proven experience delivering embedded products from concept through to production.
• Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience developing low-level drivers and embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Experience rapidly developing prototypes and MVPs using Arduino.
• Experience working with 32-bit microcontrollers including STM32, PIC32 or ESP32.
• Experience with IoT connectivity technologies including Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and cellular communications.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on role across the full product lifecycle from concept to production support.

We're partnering with a well-established Australian technology company that has built a strong reputation for designing and delivering innovative connected products.

Due to continued growth, they're looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their Sydney-based engineering team.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll play a key part throughout the entire product lifecycle—from concept and architecture through development, testing, manufacturing, and ongoing product support.

You'll work on modern embedded systems, IoT-connected devices, and next‑generation products that make a real impact.

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years' commercial experience developing embedded firmware
• Proven experience delivering embedded products from concept through to production

• Experience developing low‑level drivers and embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C)

Desirable skills:

• Experience developing firmware within RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS
• Experience creating embedded graphical user interfaces using tools such as LVGL, MGS or TouchGFX
• Experience developing firmware for system‑level and PCBA production test systems
• Exposure to desktop or mobile software development (iOS, Android or Windows)
