Job summary

Techforce Personnel Pty Ltd is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, verify and release embedded and PC-based software for engine control systems in demanding real-world applications.

You will translate requirements into software specifications, participate in code reviews, and plan tasks to meet milestones while applying robust testing (unit, regression, HIL) and strong debugging skills on 16/32-bit MCUs.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Software, Mechatronics, Control Systems or similar).
• 3–8 years industry experience in embedded software development.
• Strong C/C++ skills.
• Experience with 16-bit/32-bit microcontrollers and embedded debugging.
• Familiarity with comms protocols: CAN/CAN bus, serial (UART), I2C, SPI.
• Verification & validation experience (test planning, execution, results analysis).
• Version control and modern practices: Git/SVN, merge/pull requests, code diffs, reviews.
• Structured problem-solving approach (e.g., 8D / 7-step).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, verify and release embedded + PC-based software in line with an established Product Development Process
• Translate system/control requirements into software specifications, interfaces, acceptance criteria and technical documentation
• Support software architecture planning and participate in code reviews
• Plan and deliver engineering tasks against program milestones; identify and communicate technical/schedule risks
• Implement and improve testing approaches (unit, regression, HIL/Hardware-in-the-Loop)
• Investigate non-conformances and quality issues (root cause, containment, corrective actions)
• Support customers with integration of engine/vehicle control systems
