Job summary

L3Harris Australia is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop modular, robust code for defence systems in C++ and other embedded languages. The role involves the full software lifecycle, collaboration across disciplines, documentation, and ongoing process improvement.

Applicants should have active Commonwealth Security Clearance, a degree in Software or Electrical Engineering, and 4+ years in a similar role, with experience in microcontroller development and low-level interfaces.

Qualifications

• Active Commonwealth Security Clearance is required.
• Degree in Software or Electrical Engineering or similar.
• 4+ years’ experience in a similar embedded software role.
• Ability to read schematics and collaborate with hardware engineers.
• Experience developing C++ software for microcontrollers (bare metal or RTOS).
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN or similar interfaces.
• Capable of working independently or within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop modular, readable and robust embedded code for defence systems in C++ and other languages.
• Join all phases of the software lifecycle: requirements, design, agile development, testing, integration and verification.
• Present design details in reviews for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with software and other engineering disciplines and management to cover requirements.
• Write and maintain internal and deliverable documentation.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing as required.
• Participate in demonstrations and pursue continuous improvement.
