Job summary

L3Harris Technologies Eight Mile Plains QLD is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems in C++ and other embedded languages.

You will participate in all phases of the software lifecycle, work with hardware engineers, review designs, contribute to verification, and support manufacturing. A Commonwealth Security Clearance and a engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

• Active Commonwealth Security Clearance is required.
• Degree in Software or Electrical Engineering or similar.
• 4+ years’ experience in similar role.

Responsibilities

• Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems in C++ and other embedded languages.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, design, agile, reviews, testing, integration, verification).
• Present design details during reviews to mixed audiences.
• Collaborate with software and hardware teams and management to cover requirements efficiently.
• Write and maintain internal and deliverable documentation.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing as required.
• Participate in demonstrations to share knowledge.
• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.

We are seeking anEmbedded Software Engineer to develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

• Develop modular, readable and robust code for defence systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ and other embedded programming languages.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems design, agile development, review, test-driven development, integration, and verification.
• Presenting design details during design reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.
• Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.
• Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation.
• Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.
• Participate in internal and external demonstration activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.
• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

• An active Commonwealth Security Clearance
• Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
• 4+ years’ experience in similar role.
• Ability to read and review schematics, and work collaboratively with hardware engineers on designs.
• Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ on bare metal or with RTOS.
• Working with low level communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN etc.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.
• Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.
• Experience in using and building software for embedded Linux.
• Experience in designing software for RF, communications or EW applications
• Experience with designing software for hardware interfaces such as PCIE and JESD.
• Experience with complex algorithm design on programmable logic with space constraints.
• Experience with Python or another scripting languages for the purposes of emulation of hardware or software verification.
