Job summary

Brumby, Sydney-based drone innovator, seeks an Embedded Systems Engineer to own avionics across aircraft and docks, from power systems to onboard compute. You will design motherboards and battery packs, integrate flight controllers and Jetson, tune ArduPilot, and build firmware for Dock operations in the field.

Based in Sydney five days a week, you’ll work on rugged hardware to endure heat, dust, rain, vibration, and remote deployments connected to cattle stations.

Qualifications

• Experience taking avionics from design through to flight and integration of power, sensors and flight controllers.
• Proven ability to get real aircraft flying reliably with ArduPilot.
• Strong embedded firmware in C/C++ on STM32 and hardware debugging skills.
• Experience integrating onboard compute with sensors and aircraft systems.
• Ability to design and review schematics and PCBs, KiCad preferred.
• Comfort debugging hardware/firmware on bench and in field, in rugged environments.
• Degree in electrical, electronic or mechatronic engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own avionics across aircraft and docks, from power to onboard compute.
• Build electronics/firmware enabling docks to launch, recover and charge autonomously.
• Configure ArduPilot for long-range autonomous mustering and flight autonomy.
• Integrate onboard compute with flight systems to ensure reliability in flight.
• Create hardware that withstands heat, dust, rain, vibration, and remote field use.
