Job summary

Tweed Shire Council is seeking a civil engineering professional based in Murwillumbah to assess, certify and inspect subdivision and development projects, delivering compliant infrastructure and trusted technical advice.

You will collaborate with developers, consultants and internal teams to enable growth while upholding Australian standards and local government requirements.

About the Role

We're seeking a skilled civil engineering professional to assess, inspect and certify subdivision and development projects that contribute to the growth and liveability of our region. Working closely with developers, consultants, the community and internal stakeholders, you'll provide trusted engineering advice and help deliver safe, sustainable and compliant infrastructure for our growing community.

We are seeking
  • A Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) highly regarded) together with demonstrated experience in development engineering, civil infrastructure and development assessment, including the ability to assess, certify and inspect subdivision and development projects in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and Council requirements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering design principles, Australian Standards, local government legislation and infrastructure delivery practices, coupled with sound professional judgement and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with developers, consultants, contractors, government agencies, Councillors and the community.
  • A proactive and organised professional who can manage competing priorities, prepare clear technical reports and recommendations, and work autonomously to deliver high-quality assessment, certification and infrastructure acceptance outcomes.

Where it's located

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
