Job summary

Ampcontrol in the Newcastle–Maitland area is seeking an intermediate Electronics Draftsperson to join our Product Support team. You’ll build on your grounding in electronics drafting, read schematics and work with designers to refine PCB layouts while gaining exposure to PCB manufacturing.

Job description

Ampcontrol Group is looking for an intermediate-level Electronics Draftsperson to join our Product Support team.

This role would suit someone who already has a solid grounding in electronics drafting, understands common electronic components and is comfortable reading circuit schematics. You’ll receive ongoing mentoring and practical exposure to the design and manufacture of printed circuit boards (PCBs), while working alongside experienced electronics engineers, drafters and production teams.

What You'll Be Doing

With support from experienced engineers and drafters, you’ll apply and further develop your skills across all aspects of electronics drafting, including:

• Working closely with engineers to modify components used on multi-layered printed circuit boards (PCBs) and update board layouts;
• Preparing electronic product drawings, PCB layouts and circuit schematics using industry design software;
• Collaborating with electronics engineers, fellow drafters and workshop and production teams;
• Assisting engineers to develop 3D and electronic drawing solutions to solve design challenges;
• Providing technical support and assistance to customers across our electronic product range.

As your skills and confidence grow, so will your level of responsibility and exposure to more complex projects and technologies.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone with existing electronics drafting capability, a good understanding of electronic components and the ability to interpret circuit schematics.

You’ll bring:

• Previous experience in electronics drafting, PCB layout or a similar technical drafting role;
• Knowledge of common electronic components and their application in circuit design;
• The ability to read and interpret circuit schematics and technical drawings;
• A genuine interest in electronics, technology and engineering;
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work;
• Competence with Microsoft Office applications;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
• A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to be part of a team.
