Job description

Full Time $100,000–$110,000 + vehicle + RDO + phone + laptop

You've spent years mastering your trade. Now here's your chance to change how it's taught.

Ready to step away from the day-to-day grind of being on the tools, but not ready to leave the industry behind?

Blue Dog Training is launching a brand new Electrotechnology program in Queensland schools in 2027, and we're looking for an experienced sparky to help bring it to life.

This isn't about picking up a textbook and teaching someone else's course. You'll design and build the program from the ground up, bringing your real industry knowledge into the practical activities, training resources and experiences that prepare the next generation of electricians.

It's your opportunity to take everything you've learnt on the job, do something completely different with it and leave your mark on the future of your trade.

What's In It for You?
  • $100,000 to $110,000 salary, recognising the experience and knowledge you bring to the table.
  • Company vehicle, for work and reasonable personal use.
  • Love a long weekend? Enjoy the option of a 9-day fortnight with a regular RDO.
  • A little flexibility goes a long way, with hybrid working arrangements where suitable.
  • You bring the trade knowledge, we'll support the training side, with mentoring, professional development and an experienced team behind you.
  • Build something you can be proud of, with the opportunity to put your own ideas and industry experience into a brand-new program.
  • Less paperwork, more of what matters, with administration support provided.
  • Leave your mark on the trade, helping prepare the next generation of sparkies for the real world.
What You'll Do
First, you'll help build it.

Before the first student picks up a tool, you'll be helping us create something pretty exciting.

  • Bring the real world into the classroom. Help turn years of on-the-job experience into practical learning that makes sense to a future sparky.
  • Put your ideas to work. Design hands on activities, workshop experiences and assessments that reflect what really happens in the industry.
  • Help us do things differently. Work with our VET in Schools and compliance teams to develop a program that's engaging, practical and meets the required standards.
  • Make it something you'd want to learn. Help create training resources that go beyond simply reading a textbook.
Then, you'll bring it to life.

From mid-2027, you'll head into our partner schools and see everything you've helped create in action.

  • Swap the job site for the school workshop. Deliver practical, hands-on training to students exploring a future in the electrical trade.
  • Share the tricks of the trade. Pass on the knowledge, habits and real-world lessons that only come from years of experience.
  • Help the next generation find their feet. Build students' skills, confidence and understanding of what it really takes to become a sparky.
  • Keep making it better. See what works, hear what students have to say and help the program evolve as you go.
What You'll Bring

We're not looking for someone who's spent their whole career in a classroom. We're looking for someone who knows their way around a job site and has plenty of experience worth sharing.

  • You know your trade. You're a qualified electrician with solid, hands-on industry experience.
  • You can talk the talk. You're comfortable explaining things, sharing knowledge and working with different people.
  • You're organised and adaptable. You can manage your time, work independently and get stuck in with a team.
  • You're comfortable with technology. You don't need to be a computer whiz, but you're happy working with digital systems.
  • You enjoy helping others learn. Whether you've mentored an apprentice or just shown the new bloke how it's done, you understand the value of passing on your knowledge.
  • You've got a current driver's licence and can obtain a Queensland Blue Card.
No Certificate IV in Training and Assessment? No worries.

It's great if you have one, but it's not a dealbreaker. We'll support the right person to get qualified.

Your trade experience, ideas and attitude are what we're really interested in.
