Job summary

Blue Dog Training in Queensland seeks a Trainer and Assessor to deliver CPC20220 and MEM20422/ CPCWHS1001 programs to senior high school students. You will coach, assess practical skills and maintain records while traveling across Mackay and regional Central Queensland, with quarterly Brisbane trips for PD.

A relevant trade qualification is required, plus strong communication, relationship-building and the ability to work independently within a supportive team. Blue Card eligibility is essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in construction or engineering.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with high school-aged students is advantageous.
• Ability to learn new systems and use company devices.
• Eligible for Queensland Working with Children Card (Blue Card).

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theory-based training to senior high school students.
• Coach students and assess their practical skills.
• Build strong relationships with students, teachers and school leaders.
• Set clear expectations and manage allocated schools professionally.
• Maintain accurate training and assessment records.
• Work independently while contributing to the Blue Dog Training team.
• Travel across Mackay and regional Central Queensland (incl. Clermont, Capella, Blackwater).
• Travel to Brisbane roughly once every three months for PD and team activities.

Construction or Engineering Tradie – Train the Next Generation

As a Trainer and Assessor, you will work with partner schools to deliver:

CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways and/or

MEM20422 Certificate II in Engineering Pathways and/or

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card).

Key responsibilities

• Delivering practical and theory-based training to senior high school students
• Coaching students and assessing their practical skills
• Building strong relationships with students, teachers and school leaders
• Setting clear expectations and managing your allocated schools professionally
• Maintaining accurate training and assessment records
• Working independently while contributing effectively as part of the Blue Dog Training team
• Travel across Mackay and regional Central Queensland, potentially including Clermont, Capella and Blackwater
• Travel to Brisbane approximately once every three months for professional development and team activities

About you

• A relevant trade qualification in construction or engineering
• Strong practical experience within your trade
• A genuine interest in helping young people develop their skills
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Good digital literacy and the ability to learn new systems
• The ability to work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team
• Eligibility to obtain a Queensland Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card)
• Experience working with high school-aged students is advantageous
• A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly regarded but is not essential
• Personal and business use of a company vehicle within reason
