Job summary

Ventia is seeking a qualified Electrician to support maintenance at Port Kembla's BlueScope Steelworks, focusing on plant and equipment reliability. The role involves electrical installation, repair, testing and preventative maintenance on site.

You will work a casual contract with full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with a strong safety culture and opportunities to transition to ongoing positions across multiple projects. Excellent teamwork and on-site support are required.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade duties including maintenance, repair and replacement of plant equipment.
• PLC/SCADA experience is desirable for fault finding and control systems.
• Strong commitment to safety and QA documentation.

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace defective plant equipment to restore performance.
• Perform testing, tagging, emergency and exit testing as required.
• Fault-find on electrical equipment and control systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and quality checks.
• Assist with job timing, scheduling and planning with supervisors.

Job description

Ventia is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our team at BlueScope Steelworks, Port Kembla, supporting maintenance activities at the No.5 Blast Furnace.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, repair and replacement activities to ensure the ongoing integrity, reliability and performance of plant and equipment.

• Rate: $47.18 per hour + Super + Overtime
• Casual contract with fulltime hours | Monday - Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm

What will you do?

• Repair, refurbish or replace defective plant and perform corrective maintenance activities as required to restore plant and equipment performance on site
• Testing/tagging, emergency and exit testing and repairs
• Fault-find on electrical equipment and automatic control systems, including PLC ad SCADA experience
• Perform planned preventative maintenance routines and make performance checks as required. Complete quality assurance records required for assigned tasks
• Assist the Supervisor with job timing, work scheduling/instructions and job plans in conjunction with technical services
• Ensure QA records are completed and maintained for required tasks
• Ensure that technical and safety procedures are followed when maintenance and repairs are being undertaken

Role Requirements:

• Electrical Trade Qualification
• Current A Grade NSW Electrical Licence
• High Voltage Switching Certificate
• Confined Space, Working at heights & Elevated Work Platform (highly regarded)
• Maintenance experience with Heavy Industrial Sector
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• A strong commitment and awareness of safety
