Job summary

JLE Group in Newcastle, NSW, is seeking an experienced Electrical Workshop Manager to lead a high‑calibre workshop team on major construction, renewables and data centre projects. You will oversee project planning, budgets, forecasts and resource planning to deliver safe, on‑time outcomes.

Based in Newcastle, you will drive quality, profitability and client satisfaction while maintaining strong document control and cross‑functional collaboration with engineers and estimators.

Qualifications

  • Electrical qualification required.
  • Experience leading workshop teams and managing projects.
  • Knowledge of standards and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Represent JLE Mining and Tunnelling as Workshop Manager with project teams.
  • Lead and manage Workshop Supervisors to meet quality and profitability goals.
  • Assist GM with monthly progress reports, invoicing and forecasts.
  • Coordinate handover with estimators and engineers to share project information.
  • Procure materials and subcontractors in line with tender budgets.
  • Ensure safety and quality testing on all projects.
  • Maintain document control and stakeholder communication.

Description

JLE Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Workshop Manager to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, this role offers stable workshop-based work on high-qualityHigh Voltage electrical equipment for major construction project, renewables & data centres.

About the role

Your role will be to lead manage and enforce accountability within JLE Workshop teams, and to make decisions to achieve and meet required outcomes. You will be responsible for overseeing the JLE Workshop projects and assisting with project planning, budgets, forecasts, aiming for efficient resource and plant planning to achieve desired outcomes

Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing JLE Mining and Tunnelling as Workshop Manager working with project support teams and Workshop Supervisors.
  • Lead and manage JLE Workshop Supervisors assisting with the project goals and ensuring positive outcomes around quality and profitability.
  • Assist the general manager to Complete monthly progress reports, end of month invoicing, budget forecasts.
  • Participate in project handover meetings with JLE estimators and Engineers to ensure all project related information has been discussed and made available.
  • Assist with detailed material, and subcontractor procurement as required in line with tender budgets.
  • Solve cross functional issues within the project crew creating a good culture and leading by example.
  • Communicate with JLE Management and client representatives regarding planning costs and quality for all projects under your supervision.
  • Carry out detailed project handover reports with JLE Supervisors ensuring they understand the project and have the materials and resources they require. (Scope, Drawings Engineering detail.)
  • Work through detailed project methodology ensuring safety and quality testing is completed always
  • Lead, manage and make accountable supervisors to ensure the intended results are achieved.
  • Maintain strong document control ensuring current plans and documents are being utilized where required and constant communication exists with all stakeholders.
  • Manage and monitor and review JLE quality process for individual projects to insure costs effective installation and commissioning on every project.
  • Assist with estimating of potential workshop projects and hire projects.
  • Maintain and monitor all workshop overheads and budgets to ensure probability.
  • Interact with customers when required and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Oversee stock procurement and insure future planning for stock procurement of long lead items.
