Job summary

JLE Group's Newcastle-based Manufacturing & Hire division is seeking an experienced Workshop Electrical Supervisor to oversee electrical manufacturing activities on high voltage equipment for major construction, renewables, and data centre projects.

You will lead Leading Hands, Electricians, Apprentices and Trades Assistants, drive safety and quality, manage schedules, review drawings, and ensure profitable delivery while complying with Australian Standards and the IMS.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in electrical engineering or electrotechnology.
  • Current electrical licence and construction white card.
  • 7–12 years’ experience in the trade.
  • Demonstrated workshop or manufacturing supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise workshop personnel to achieve production, safety, quality and productivity objectives.
  • Coordinate daily workshop activities and manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor progress against project budgets and delivery timelines.
  • Review project documentation including drawings and scopes of work; participate in handover meetings.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and mentor junior staff.

Description

JLE Group is seeking an experienced Workshop Electrical Supervisor to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, this role offers stable workshop-based work on high-qualityHigh Voltage electrical equipment for major construction project, renewables & data centres.

About the role

The Electrical Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination and performance of electrical manufacturing activities within the workshop environment. The role ensures the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of manufacturing projects while maintaining compliance with client specifications, Australian Standards, statutory obligations, and the JLE Group Integrated Management System (IMS).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and supervise workshop personnel to achieve production, safety, quality and productivity objectives.
  • Provide daily direction and support to Leading Hands, Electricians, Apprentices and Trades Assistants.
  • Promote a positive, accountable and high-performing workplace culture.
  • Mentor and develop employees through coaching and on-the-job training.
  • Coordinate daily workshop activities and manufacturing schedules.
  • Allocate labour, equipment and resources to achieve project milestones.
  • Monitor manufacturing progress against project budgets and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure manufacturing projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.
  • Participate in project handover meetings with Estimators, Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Review project documentation including drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates.
  • Identify and elevate project risks and issues.
  • Support commissioning, testing and project completion activities as required.
  • Ensure all manufacturing works complaint.
  • Conduct quality inspections and verification activities.
  • Lead and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Support Workshop Management in meeting project profitability targets.
  • Assist with monthly project reviews and Cost-to-Complete (CTC) reporting.
  • Communicate project progress and workshop activities effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement of client satisfaction outcomes.
