Job summary

Tranex Solar is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to lead on-site electrical crews across utility-scale solar and BESS construction projects. You will translate the construction program into daily work packages, supervise electricians, and drive safety, quality and productivity on the ground.

  • Previous experience as Electrician on large-scale construction projects with progression into a supervisory role.
  • Supervising electrical crews on site (8+ personnel).
  • Experience in utility-scale solar and/or BESS construction is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and drive electrical crews (electricians, apprentices, trades assistants, subcontractors) on site.
  • Plan, allocate and monitor daily work packages for electrical crews in line with the construction program.
  • Oversee installation, termination and testing of DC/AC electrical systems (PV modules, cabling, switchboards, inverters, balance-of-plant).
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with Australian Standards and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks and enforce SWMS across all electrical activities.
  • Monitor crew productivity and report any program slippage to the Project Manager.
  • Identify and resolve on-site technical issues, quality non-conformances and safety hazards.
  • Support commissioning and energisation activities with engineers and commissioning teams.
  • Manage site inductions and verify licences, tickets, and competency of crew.
  • Coordinate with other site supervisors to ensure integrated site operations.
  • Mentor apprentices and trades assistants on-site development.
  • Maintain accurate site records (testing docs, QA/ITP, timesheets, daily reports).
  • Champion a safety-first culture across the electrical scope.

Job description

The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of electrical crews on utility-scale solar and BESS construction sites. Site-based and working directly on the ground, they drive crew productivity, safety and quality across all electrical installation, testing and commissioning works. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Electrical Supervisor translates the construction program into daily work packages, enforces WHS and quality standards, and ensures the electrical scope is delivered safely, on time and to specification.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and drive electrical crews (electricians, apprentices, trades assistants and subcontractors) on site to meet daily and weekly production targets.

  • Plan, allocate and monitor daily work packages for electrical crews in line with the overall construction program.

  • Oversee installation, termination and testing of DC and AC electrical systems, including PV modules, cabling, switchboards, inverters and balance-of-plant infrastructure.

  • Ensure all electrical works comply with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, etc.) and statutory requirements.

  • Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks and enforce Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) across all electrical activities.

  • Monitor crew productivity and progress, identifying and reporting any program slippage to the Project Manager.

  • Identify and resolve on-site technical issues, quality non-conformances and safety hazards in real time.

  • Support commissioning and energisation activities, liaising with senior electricians, engineers and commissioning teams.

  • Manage site inductions and verify licences, tickets and ongoing competency of electrical crews.

  • Coordinate with other site supervisors (mechanical, civil) to ensure integrated and efficient site operations.

  • Supervise and mentor apprentices and trades assistants, supporting their on-site development.

  • Maintain accurate site records, including testing documentation, QA/ITP records, timesheets and daily reports.

  • Champion a safety-first culture across the electrical scope, working towards zero Lost Time Incidents.

  • Liaise with the Project Manager on resourcing, program and any variations affecting the electrical scope.

Preferred Experience Requirements

- Previous experience as an Electrician on large-scale construction projects, with demonstrated progression into a supervisory role.

- Previous experience supervising electrical crews on site (8+ personnel).

- Experience in utility-scale solar and/or BESS construction highly regarded.

- Experience working to project programs and reporting on crew production and progress.

Skill Requirements

- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to drive crew performance on site.

- Sound working knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems for solar and BESS projects.

- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, SWMS and safe systems of work.

- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documents.

- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and technical diagnostic skills.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, liaising with the Project Manager, engineers and crews.

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly with QA/testing documentation.

- Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and site reporting systems.

- Ability to work under pressure and cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency in a remote construction environment.

Preferred Licenses / Qualifications

- Current A-Grade (Unrestricted) Electrician’s Licence, recognised in the relevant state/territory.

- Construction White Card (General Construction Induction).

- Current CPR/LVR certification.

- Driver’s License (Preferably MR or greater).

- HV switching experience/licence highly regarded.

- High Risk Work Licence (EWP, Forklift) or Telehandler Ticket – desirable.

- Working at Heights and Confined Spaces training – desirable.

- Cert IV in WHS – desirable.
