Job summary

Alcoa Australia in Portland Aluminium is seeking an Electrical Superintendent to lead electrical and instrumentation maintenance across the site. You will govern HV/LV systems and act as the site Electrical Safety Authority, ensuring safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

You will champion continuous improvement, build capability within electrical teams and manage on-call rosters. The role demands strong leadership and collaboration with contractors and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• A relevant electrical qualification supported by extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within a complex industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, high voltage and low voltage systems, switching activities and statutory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to develop technical capability, set clear expectations and support high performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide site-wide leadership and governance for electrical and instrumentation maintenance and electrical safety.
• Act as the site Electrical Safety authority and maintain the Electrical Safety Management System.
• Oversee the safe and compliant operation of high voltage and low voltage systems, switching activities and system upgrades.
• Lead electrical audits, regulatory engagement, incident investigations and the closure of corrective actions.
• Improve electrical asset availability and reliability through effective preventative maintenance and root cause analysis.
• Develop the capability of electrical and instrumentation employees through coaching, training and technical guidance.
• Support electrical infrastructure upgrades and provide recommendation on the suitability and serviceability of equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement in maintenance effectiveness, safety performance and cost efficiency.
