Job summary

NEN Consulting in Melbourne CBD is seeking an Electrical HV Engineer to lead HV network design across major infrastructure projects. You will own transformer specification and primary substation design, from design through commissioning, reporting to the Engineering Manager and collaborating with senior engineers, project managers and clients.

The role requires hands-on delivery, adherence to codes, and a proactive, analytical mindset in dynamic project environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) required.
• CPEng or eligibility (NER/RPEV) preferred.
• 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering and HV network design.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and review HV electrical networks, transformers and substation layouts.

Lead the design of HV electrical networks — from transformers to substations. NEN Consulting is looking for an Electrical HV Engineer to join our Melbourne CBD Engineering team.

The Opportunity:

You'll take ownership of HV network design — including transformer specification and primary substation design — across major infrastructure and utilities projects, from design through to construction and commissioning. Reporting to our Engineering Manager, you'll manage assigned work packages, support tendering and fee proposals, and work closely with senior engineers, project managers and clients to deliver safe, compliant and reliable outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and review HV electrical networks, transformers and substation layouts
• Prepare engineering designs, calculations and specifications to relevant codes and standards

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering and project delivery, with demonstrated HV network and transformer design experience
• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical); CPEng or eligibility (NER/RPEV) preferred
• Strong working knowledge of electrical codes, standards and regulatory frameworks
• An analytical, self-motivated problem-solver who thrives in dynamic delivery environments
• Highly developed communication skills and the ability to work across cross-functional teams
