Job summary

Aquatec is Australia’s leading advisor in water infrastructure. We seek an Electrical Field Technician to perform electrical works across pump stations and control systems, including FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning on site.

You will read P&IDs and schematics, work with instrumentations, troubleshoot faults, and mentor junior staff while traveling to sites as needed. Join a team focused on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of instrumentation (Flow/Level/Pressure).
• Industrial/commercial electrical experience including fault finding and system testing.
• Strong understanding of switchboard installation and electrical compliance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical onsite works aligned with project schedules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
• Conduct FAT/SAT and commissioning of Aquatec pump stations.
• Respond to faults and service issues as required by the Service Manager.
• Supervise and mentor apprentices or casual staff where applicable.
• Assist Mechanical Technicians onsite when needed.
• Maintain clear site documentation, test records and handover checklists.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure timely completion.

The Role

As an Electrical Field Technician you will play a critical role in carrying out electrical works as required by our Projects Department, relevant to all Aquatec pump stations and control systems.

Core responsibilities include electrical fit-off of Aquatec projects (both onsite and in-factory), conducting FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) on switchboards, installation of electrical components onsite, conducting SAT (Site Acceptance Tests), troubleshooting electrical issues and leading pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across various sites.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Carrying out electrical onsite works aligned with project schedules
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise
• Conducting FAT/SAT and commissioning of Aquatec pump stations

• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics and design plans
• Working knowledge of instrumentation (Flow / Level / Pressure), VSDs, and soft starters
• Industrial/commercial electrical experience including fault finding and system testing
• Strong understanding of switchboard installation and electrical compliance
• A proactive attitude and well-developed communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
• Willingness to travel and work away from home as required
