Job summary

Kent plc is recruiting an Electrical Commissioning Technician for site work in Lytton, Australia. The role delivers high-quality commissioning and troubleshooting across MCCs, drives performance, and ensures safety procedures are followed on site.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in a similar role, Cert III in Electrical Craft, and current Queensland Electrical Licence, with EEHA and first aid/LV rescue certifications to support start-up activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Cert III in Electrical Craft or equivalent.
  • EEHA Certification.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and LV Rescue.
  • Current Queensland Electrical Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power.
  • Inspect, test, adjust and commission equipment to standards.
  • Work within OEM guidelines.
  • Demonstrate fault-finding skills and troubleshoot autonomously.
  • Supervise vendor staff when required and liaise with other disciplines.
  • Complete rectification works and close out punch items.

Role scope

The Electrical Commissioning and Start Up Technician is responsible for delivering a high quality, consistent and competent service in accordance with project and company requirements, standards and procedures to support overall delivery of company goals and schedule. This role will be under general supervision to perform a variety of commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of various equipment.

Details / responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with site cardinal safety rules and all safety aspects in the execution of work
  • Ensure procedures and permits are followed safely
  • Commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power
  • Inspect, test, adjust and commission equipment to satisfy appropriate governing standards
  • Work within OEM guidelines
  • Demonstrate high-quality fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously
  • Observe and supervise vendor staff working on or near the facilities as required
  • Carry out cause and effect testing
  • Attend system walkdowns
  • Complete rectification works as required
  • Close out punch items
  • Liaise with other discipline teams to undertake commissioning and start-up activities safely
About You

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, along with a Cert III in Electrical Craft and proven expertise. Required certifications and qualifications:

  • EEHA Certification
  • Current First Aid Certificate and LV Rescue
  • Preferably nationally accredited training in Working at Heights
  • Current Full or Restricted Queensland Electrical Licence
