CSQ - Construction Skills Queensland is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support NSW & Queensland water projects and beyond. You will assess scope, prepare costed tenders and work with engineering and delivery teams to craft competitive submissions.

Bring electrical trade or higher qualification, strong costing, and proficiency with WinEst/Espro/CostX. This role offers national project exposure and a path for growth within a national group.

Qualifications

• Electrical estimator with experience in utilities, water, mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Trade qualification or higher degree in electrical disciplines.
• Proven ability to prepare competitive tenders for complex electrical projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage upcoming tender opportunities across utilities and industrial sectors.
• Review tender docs, drawings and specs to determine scope and cost.
• Prepare detailed tender submissions and pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, project delivery and business development.
• Build relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and submissions.
• Participate in bid reviews and risk assessments, improving estimating processes.

Job Description

Our client is a leading Australian electrical engineering and project delivery business, delivering complex electrical, instrumentation and automation projects across the utilities, water, mining and heavy industrial sectors.

Electrical Estimator

Reporting to the National Estimating Manager, you will have a proven record in estimating, negotiating and securing new electrical, instrumentation and automation projects in predominantly the utilities, resources, mining, oil and gas or heavy industrial sectors.

This position will focus primarily on projects in the NSW & QLD water industry and growing to execute projects Nationally and work closely with other group businesses to build a project pipeline in mining, minerals and metals amoung other industrial sectors.

• Identify and manage upcoming tender opportunities across the utilities, water and industrial sectors.


• Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications to accurately determine project scope and develop competitive project estimates.


• Prepare detailed tender submissions, pricing strategies and supporting documentation for major electrical, instrumentation and automation projects.


• Work closely with engineering, project delivery and business development teams to develop innovative, commercially competitive solutions.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to gather technical information, obtain pricing and finalise submissions.


• Participate in bid reviews, commercial risk assessments and project handovers, while contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating processes.

What you will bring:

• Experience as an Electrical Estimator, ideally within the utilities, water, mining or heavy industrial sectors.


• Electrical Trade Qualification or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.


• Demonstrated experience preparing commercially competitive tenders for complex electrical infrastructure projects.


• Strong understanding of project costing, electrical systems, Australian Standards and industry regulations.


• Experience using estimating software such as WinEst, Espro, CostX or similar.


• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.


• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.


• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with experience using project management software viewed favourably.
