Job summary

Clough is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join the Bidding Energy & Resources Team in our North Sydney office. The role focuses on developing first principle estimates and cost plans for tenders, coordinating with the Planning team, and delivering clear, validated cost data for bid submissions.

Travel across WA, QLD and NSW is required during bid study periods. You will work with a national team, support internal approvals and participate in corporate reviews, while applying knowledge of

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified with significant on-the-job experience.
  • Experience with database estimating packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate first principles estimates and proposals within strict deadlines.
  • 4+ years' minimum experience in an estimating role.
  • 4+ years' experience within the Energy and Resources sector.

Responsibilities

  • Report progress and any constraints to management.
  • Participate in tender reviews and adjust costings as required.
  • Ensure documents and reports are submitted within bid deadlines.

Clough is seeking anElectrical Estimator to join the Bidding Energy & Resources Team in our North Sydney office.

The Electrical Estimator, reporting to the Bid Services Manager, is responsible for preparing accurate contract value estimates and cost plans for various tenders and engineering studies. They will work within a national team across WA, QLD, and NSW, with essential travel required during bid study periods. Additionally, the role involves assisting with internal approval documentation and participating in corporate reviews and approval meetings as needed.

Your focus will include:
  • Review requests for proposals and tenders and contribute to the development of efficient and cost-effective pricing to be included in the tender response.
  • Review tender documentation to determine scope and specific terms and conditions.
  • Develop and implement first principle estimates. Develop accurate pricing models from the client or engineering supplied data.
  • Interpret and evaluate drawings to identify direct and direct estimates, including allowances for risk and contingency.
  • Collate material take-offs and job costs into presentable, clear, well-structured spreadsheets or databases.
  • Analyse benchmarks and historical costs.
  • Assist Technical Procurement with BoQ for the procurement packages preparation so Procurement can obtain quotations from third parties for the provision of necessary materials, subcontracts and services.
  • Work directly with the Planning team to align the estimate and the schedule.
  • Review estimates, labour cost calculations and cost estimates from internal stakeholders or external contributors for accuracy, suitability, and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and industry bodies to ensure that new materials, techniques, and methodologies are utilised to provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Report to management the estimate progress and advise of any difficulties or constraints in compiling the estimate.
  • Participate in tender reviews with senior management and adjust costings as required.
  • Ensure relevant documents, deliverables and reports are submitted within the bid deadline.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of estimate, methodology and schedule.
  • Full understanding of legislative requirements and codes utilised in the Electrical and Instrumentation trades.
  • Ensure estimate and cost planning processes and procedures are in compliance with corporate procedures, legislation, statutes, and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with Business Unit Manager on the specifics of successful tenders and carry out internal tender 'handover' meetings of successful tenders to supporting teams.
  • Work directly with the project development team to align the estimate and the methodology.
