Job summary

Randstad in Australia is partnering with a premier manufacturing leader to recruit an Electrical / AutoCAD Design Drafter. You will develop full drawing packages from initial layouts to IFC, creating precise wiring diagrams and fabrication docs for power distribution systems.

You will collaborate with design leads and shop-floor technicians to ensure manufacturability and compliance with Australian standards, owning drawings through revisions and ECOs across project timelines.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
• Familiarity with LV switchboards, control panels, or power distribution a bonus.
• Practical problem-solving mindset with drafting accuracy.
• Strong communication and teamwork with workshop and engineering.

Responsibilities

You won't just be sitting behind a screen updating redlines in isolation. In this role, you will be a core technical contributor working side-by-side with Design Leads, Senior Project Managers, and shop-floor manufacturing technicians. You will see your concepts progress from initial schematics to fully assembled, tested switchboards powering major infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia.

What You Will Do

Design from Concept to Reality: Develop complete drawing packages from early concept layouts through to final Issue for Construction (IFC).

Detailed Manufacturing Packages: Produce accurate mechanical layouts, single-line schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical fabrication documentation.

Hands-on Collaboration: Partner directly with the workshop and assembly teams to troubleshoot design challenges and ensure every panel is practical and fit for manufacture.

Quality & Compliance: Apply Australian Standards and project specifications to deliver compliant, high-quality, and cost-effective designs.

Lifecycle Ownership: Manage revisions, engineering change orders (ECOs), and drawing registers across dynamic project timelines.

What We Are Looking For

2-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience, ideally within an electrical, control systems, or manufacturing setting.

Familiarity with Low Voltage (LV) switchboards, control panels, or power distribution is a bonus, but not essential-attitude and strong foundational CAD drafting skills come first.

A practical, problem-solving mindset with a sharp eye for drafting accuracy and detail.

Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with workshop and engineering teams alike.
