Job summary

Australian Department of Defence is establishing a merit pool for EL1 Assistant Director roles within the Defence Royal Commission Program Management Office (DRCPMO) in Campbell ACT. You will build high-performing teams to oversee Defence’s implementation of RCDVS recommendations and coordinate governance across the program.

The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, ministerial support, program oversight, and risk management to support one of Defence’s largest reforms.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams and coordinating across Groups/Services.
• Strong policy, governance and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences including APS and ADF staff.
• Formal PM qualifications desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team with clear performance standards.
• Develop and manage stakeholder relationships through expert advice and negotiation.
• Identify emerging stakeholders and engagement opportunities.
• Provide expert advice on policy, governance and program controls.
• Prepare program progress content for ministerial and enterprise reporting.
