Job summary

The Hive Bondi is recruiting an Educational Leader to guide educational practice across OSHC programs. You will mentor educators, help design engaging activities, and ensure child safety and wellbeing across morning, afternoon and holiday care.

You’ll bring at least 3 years of OSHC experience and an OSHC/ECEC qualification, or be actively working towards one. Join a collaborative team near Bondi Beach with opportunities for development.

Are you the Educational Leader we’re looking for?

The Hive Bondi, is seeking a skilled, experienced, qualified and passionate OSHC Educational Leader who is ready to inspire and nurture educators, implement high-quality, inclusive programming & processes and deliver positive impacts on the learning, development and wellbeing of school-age children.

The SERIOUS STUFF: The successful applicant will preferably already hold a relevant OSHC/ECEC qualification and must demonstrate proven experience in educational programming, planning and reflective practice. They will understand how to weave the safety, rights and best interests of children into engaging, child-led learning, intentional experiences, critical reflection and meaningful documentation - to support positive outcomes for every child.

About The Hive

The Hive Bondi is Bondi Beach Public School’s OSHC Centre, providing before school, after school and vacation care for school-age children. Operating for 11 years, and licensed for 160 places, we are independently managed by the P&C and are not-for-profit; directing funds back into dynamic programming, resources, experiences and support for our children, our school and our team.

Our dedicated Hive staff operate collaboratively to ensure a setting where children feel safe, valued and supported to develop independence, confidence, creativity and sense of belonging and agency.

About the Role

As our Educational Leader, you’ll take on the key role in guiding educational practice, supporting educator development and ensuring our OSHC programs across all settings and time-spans (morning, afternoon, holiday) reflect the changing interests, strengths, abilities, needs and voices of the children attending the service.

You will guide educators to create experiences, activities, schedules and processes that encourage children's creativity, independence, social development, health, wellbeing and sense of connection, ensuring the program remains responsive to children's inputs and their evolving developmental needs. We also expect you to explore and tap into any areas of skill and interest that individual Educators may bring to the table.

This role requires a confident and collaborative leader who can mentor educators (individually and at group level), encourage reflective practice, support senior management and contribute to a positive team culture where child safety and high-quality education & care inform everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance for educators to develop, implement and evaluate engaging OSHC programs, based on children's interests, strengths, abilities, ideas and goals
• Based on your independent reading and research; lead, inspire and mentor educators to strengthen their pedagogical practice and professional growth, whilst remaining responsive to current learnings and research
• Support educators to confidently implement the cycle of planning; including observations, documentation, assessment, critical reflection, identifying opportunities for improvement
• Promote child-led learning and intentional teaching through meaningful indoor and outdoor experiences
• Support the whole team to create inclusive environments where children, families and educators feel a strong sense of belonging
• Support educators during daily routines, transitions, indoor and outdoor play, excursions and vacation care experiences
• Ensure children's safety, wellbeing and supervision are maintained at all times
• Encourage educators to build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Maintain accurate educational records and documentation in accordance with relevant regulations, standards and centre policies
• Contribute to the service's Quality Improvement Plan and Self Assessment Module
• Work collaboratively with the leadership team to maintain a positive, professional and supportive workplace culture
• Participate in team meetings, professional development and ongoing training

About You

You are a passionate, experienced and (ideally) qualified educator who enjoys working with school-age children, leading others, evolving and sharing knowledge and creating meaningful learning experiences.

You will bring:

• Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an OSHC environment
• Existing relevant OSHC/ECEC qualification, or actively working towards same is highly regarded
• Experience as an Educational Leader or other leadership/programming role is highly regarded. We're also open to high calibre candidates who've not previously held an Ed Leader role
• Strong understanding of child-led learning, intentional teaching and critical reflection
• Established personal interest and practice of evolving your own pedagogical learning, to bring to your leadership role
• Solid understanding of the NQF, including NQS & MTOP
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire, mentor and support educators
• Strong, empathetic communication skills, social, verbal and written
• Confident relationship-building skills with children, families and colleagues
• Enthusiasm, initiative and a genuine passion for working with children
• A positive attitude and genuine commitment to teamwork and collaboration
• Professional presentation and a high level of organisation

Mandatory Requirements

The successful applicant will hold/have completed:

• Current Working With Children Check
• National Child Safety Foundation Training Modules 1-4 (or willing to complete quickly)
• Current First Aid and CPR qualifications, including HLTAID012
• Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk (CHCPRT025)
• Unrestricted right to work in Australia
