Job summary

Kool Beanz Byron Bay is seeking an experienced Educational Leader / Assistant Director (2IC) to blend pedagogical leadership with hands-on operations. Join a family-owned service committed to high-quality early learning and community engagement.

You will lead educational programs, mentor educators, embed EYLF and Kool Beanz pedagogy, and support the Centre Director with daily operations and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Minimum 2–3 years in Educational Leader, Assistant Director or Senior Leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework (NQF), EYLF and Assessment & Rating.
• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis certificates.
• Current Working with Children Check/Blue Card (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide Educational Leadership and mentor educators to deliver high-quality educational programs.
• Embed the EYLF, NQS and Kool Beanz pedagogy throughout the centre.
• Coach educators through planning cycles, documentation and intentional teaching.
• Drive continuous improvement and contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
• Monitor programming and support reflective practice across rooms.
• Build educator capability through coaching and professional development.
• Support the Centre Director with day-to-day operations.
• Act as Responsible Person and Centre Director when required.
• Assist with staffing, rosters, compliance and daily centre operations.
• Conduct regular room walkthroughs to ensure quality, supervision and safety.
