As an Education Support Officer of Maritime Studies, you will provide valuable technical and classroom support to teachers and learners, helping to create an engaging and compliant learning environment. You will use your maritime industry expertise to assist with practical training activities, learner support, course administration processes and the day-to-day operations of maritime programs, contributing to student success and industry readiness.
Working closely with teaching and administrative teams, you will support activities relating to STCW certification processes, record management, reporting and compliance requirements. You will also contribute to quality assurance activities and assist with maintaining the operational standards expected within an AMSA-approved maritime training environment, drawing on your practical maritime knowledge and strong organisational skills.
This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment.
You are an experienced maritime professional who is passionate about supporting the next generation of maritime learners. Drawing on your operational industry experience, you can apply practical knowledge of vessel operations, maritime safety systems, STCW requirements and AMSA compliance within a maritime training environment. You are a confident communicator who enjoys working with students, teachers, industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to contribute to positive learner outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will hold either an STCW Watchkeeper Deck Certificate of Competency (CoC) (or higher) or an STCW Watchkeeper Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) (or higher), or equivalent qualification, together with a minimum of three years' seagoing experience as a Watchkeeper Deck Officer, Watchkeeper Engineer Officer, or in a higher STCW-certificated deck or engineering position. You will demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a dynamic training environment.
